Helen Cousins Spring Bulbs.jpeg

Spring is just around the corner! In this relaxed and fun workshop, Helen will guide you through her step-by-step process to create your own botanical painting of a lovely spring flower with watercolours.

Think irises, crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils…

Suitable for beginners, and those with a little more experience!

You will gain a deeper understanding of:

  • How to create an accurate botanical drawing

  • How to stretch watercolour paper effectively

  • How to transfer your drawing to watercolour paper

  • Observing form through light and shade

  • Mixing accurate botanical colours with watercolours

  • Watercolour techniques, including wet-in-wet, layering, blending & dry-brush, to help you develop your own style

  • The intricacy and beauty of nature, and the therapeutic benefits of studying plants & putting paint to paper.

Includes:

  • All materials for use during the workshop

  • Tea/coffee & Danish pastry on arrival.

  • A light lunch

  • Afternoon tea & cake

  • A goodie bag including a plywood art board and three brushes recommended by Helen to take away at the end of the day (to keep painting!)

And, to top it off, we will be lucky enough to be painting in the beautiful Italianate Glasshouse in Ramsgate.
