IN-PERSON WORKSHOP
ENGLAND

BOTANICAL ART
DIVE DEEPER

This immersive 3 day workshop is designed for artists ready to deepen their botanical art practice

Over three days, you’ll work closely with Helen in a small group to develop a botanical subject from start to finish.

The workshop begins with time spent exploring the beautiful gardens of West Green House to choose your subject.

You’ll then be guided through the study of your chosen flower or plant, learn how to take helpful reference photographs, and translate what you’ve captured into a beautiful botanical illustration.

Who this workshop is for:

You will gain a deeper understanding of:

  • Creating an accurate botanical drawing from life

  • Taking suitable reference photographs

  • Stretching watercolour paper effectively

  • Transferring a pencil drawing onto watercolour paper

  • Observing form through light and shade

  • Mixing accurate botanical colours with watercolours

  • Using watercolour techniques, including wet-in-wet, layering, blending, and dry brush, to develop your own style

  • The intricacy and beauty of nature, and the therapeutic benefits of studying plants and putting paint to paper
